Templates and Style Guides

It is important for organizations to produce written publications that are consistent both in appearance and in writing style. This can be difficult to achieve unless the materials are all written by the same person.

Two tools that can be employed to ensure consistency across multiple authors are templates and style guides.

  • Templates are used to control the formatting of documents.

  • Style guides are used to control the language (grammar, punctuation, wording, typography) of documents.

If our clients have their own templates and style guides, we adhere to them. If not, we use our own or offer to help them create these tools for their organizations.

It is important to note that these tools may differ for hard copy and online documents, due to the differences in “page” size and legibility.
