Performance support is providing what users need, when they need it, and where they need it. When our client developed a custom sales force automation application, we created a variety of performance support tools—demos, QuickCards®, and help files—that users can access from within the application whenever they need assistance. Demos are movies that show the users how to perform a function. They are especially effective for teaching new users about the application, or showing existing users how to use a new function. QuickCards® provide summarized instructions for using each function in the application and can remain on top of the application window to guide the user while performing the function. Help files provide detailed reference information about every feature in the application and can be searched using keywords. |
